WE SANG FOR NOTHING!

A capella group Ikhono Nobizo claim the EFF owes them R3 000.

WE CAME, we sang – but we were not paid!
This is the chorus line a KZN a cappella group struck up in a civil court claim, accusing the EFF of playing hide and seek over money owed.
Ikhono Nobizo from Inanda, north of Durban, has four blind members.

They said the EFF used their services at their four-year anniversary at Curries Fountain Sports Centre in July, but the party has allegedly refused to pay them.

Group leader Sibongiseni Mabasa said: “We went to the EFF’s Durban offices and indicated we wished to perform at their celebrations.

“We were referred to Ray Thwane, who facilitated everything. He told us we would be paid R3 000 on the first Tuesday after the event.”

He accused the EFF of undermining them and their music. They approached the Small Claims Court in Durban earlier this month.
“The court said we should return after 14 days should the EFF not have paid us. The 14 days have passed,” he said.

“That’s why we went back to court on Wednesday.
“ They’ll be served with a letter instructing them to come to court.”
Thwane said artists were paid but Ikhono volunteered.
EFF KZN spokesman Vukani Ndlovu said: “I’ll contact Thwane to find out more and, if necessary, contact the national leadership of the EFF.”
