SICK MADALA DESPERATELY NEEDS HELP

Madala Dinesi Samudeni lives alone in a crumbling shack in Ikageng Village, North West.

LIFE is hard for madala Dinesi Samudeni.
The 65-year-old from Ikageng Village, North West, is sick.
He depends on kindhearted neighbours to bring him food, to help him drink water and to change his disposable nappies and wash him.

The madala can’t even walk properly.
His wife and two children allegedly left him alone a few years ago.
He lives in a crumbling shack, and the door doesn’t lock.
Maureen Kobe, chairwoman of the community policing forum, said the madala should be taken to an old age home or hospice.

The SunTeam recently visited madala Dinesi.
“No, I don’t want to go back to Malawi. It’s too far,” he said.
“My kids, Lettie and Mollie Ndlovu, live with their mum in Reagile township near Koster.”
The madala refused to tell Daily Sun why his family left him.
Some villagers claimed his family left him just after he fell ill.
Villagers are worried that the madala could die in the shack and his family won’t even know about his death.

Petrus Siko, a spokesman for the North West Social Development Department, told the People’s Paper they had found a place for Dinesi at Sonop Old Age Home in Brits.
“The department has done the necessary paperwork with Dinesi, which will enable him to move to the old age home.
“He will receive proper care on a daily basis.”
