RAMAPHOSA PROMISES ACTION ON LAND!

President Cyril Ramaphosa
In replying to the State of the Nation Address (SONA) debate, President Cyril Ramaphosa promised action on land expropriation and radical economic transformation.
Ramaphosa welcomed a suggestion by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) chief whip Floyd Shivambu, saying government is completing work on a new, centralized ownership model for the State Owned Enterprises, with possibility for minority investors.
However, he went on to mention  that it is clear that the failure of some government departments to pay suppliers within 30 days has a devastating impact on small and medium-sized businesses.

"This is something I want to see addressed as I visit government departments," Ramaphosa said.
He addressed the issue of Mzansi's current expensive data costs and said government is working on bringing the price of data down.
"After speaking to a young businesswoman. It is our responsibility as government and MPs to give them the means to unlock that potential."
Meanwhile, he also touched on the Marikana Massacre, saying he will play whatever role he can in the process of healing and compensation.
"The Marikana tragedy stands out as the darkest moment in the life of our young democracy," Ramaphosa said.
In wrapping up his speech, he thanked all the MPs who participated in what he termed a robust and challenging SONA debate.
"I also want to thank the people of SA who responded to the call that went out, a new dawn has indeed arrived in our country. There is hard work ahead. What we should do, all of us, is stand up, and  say 'Thuma Mina', send me'."
