ONE person was killed and three others seriously injured two trucks and car crashed on Monday.
The accident happened on Bellair Road near the Albert Luthuli Hospital in Cato Manor.
When Rescue Care paramedics arrived on the scene two trucks had collided before a car crashed into the trucks and then one of the trucks overturned.
Two passengers in the car were severely trapped and the Durban Fire Department had to use Jaws of Life free them.
"Unfortunately the passenger of the vehicle an elderly lady had suffered extensive injuries and she was declared deceased on the scene. The driver had sustained serious injuries and was stabilised by Advanced Life Support Paramedics whilst being cut free." Rescue Care said.
She was then rushed to the Albert Luthuli Hospital for further care that she required.
The entire roadway was blocked and closed in both directions whilst emergency personal worked to clear the scene.
