War over Wi-Fi

A STREET fight between two students from North-West University in the Vaal, south of Joburg, was caught on camera.
The video shows one student attacking another while a third filmed the brawl.
The incident took place yesterday morning at private student accommodation in Vanderbijlpark.
According to sources, the attack was sparked by the unavailability of Wi-Fi at the residence.
The university has condemned the incident. University spokeswoman Annette Willemse said they were aware of the video.
“It has been established that both students study at North-West University.
“One student has been offered support from the institution in terms of trauma counselling.
“The matter is now with the police as what happened is a criminal act but the university will also be preparing a disciplinary hearing,” said Willemse.
Police spokesman Captain Fikile Funda said both students had opened cases against each other.
He said: “We can confirm that the students opened counter cases against each other after the incident.
“We understand the two are roommates in the residence.
“Two cases of common assault were registered with the police but the cases could change after their court appearances.
